Stephen McLaughlin

Stephen McLaughlin is a Ph.D. student in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. As a member of the High-Performance Sound Technologies for Access and Scholarship (HiPSTAS) research group since 2012, he has helped develop methods for analyzing culturally significant audio collections using machine learning techniques. He has worked extensively with the PennSound poetry archive, and is currently contributing to a collaboration with WGBH and the American Archive of Public Broadcasting. McLaughlin also studies copyright policy, the open access movement, and the illicit online distribution of books and academic articles.
